Design & Vintage
At Charlie + Mary we love good and sustainable interior design! When we got the invitation for the opening of new Amsterdam Hotspot BAUT we couldn’t wait to see what they had done with this tiny building between all the high offices and clubs at the Wibautstraat.
First of all it’s bigger than you think! The place houses a big restaurant, a bar and the area upstairs can be rented for events or club nights. And coming Spring a 180m2 Urban garden will be developed at BAUT’s roof terrace! The venue is styled with a great mixture of (sustainable) design and vintage pieces. Interior stylist Sandra Planken integrated as much social and up-cycling design as possible in this master project. There are lamps made of used plastic jerry cans, art pieces made of old clothes and we discovered much more smart thinking! Even loved the Berlin style smoking rooms! One of them has it’s walls covered with old picture frames. Almost makes you want to spend time in there even if you’re not a smoker.
All good things come to an end
So yeah there is a great new place in town to have dinner in an inspiring setting, or have drinks before you head to one of the clubs in this upcoming part of town. But all good things come to an end and BAUT will close it’s doors again in December 2014 as this part of Amsterdam is being re-developed. Go and get inspired at BAUTamsterdam while you can.
